Day 5 : Harajuku & Akihabara, Tokyo Japan

So we arrived in Tokyo and checked into our airbnb apartment at around 9ish to 10pm by the end of day 4. Thank god the host emailed me the guide to his house with very specific instructions so we found our way pretty quickly. We stayed at Koenji station and it's just a few stops away from Shinjuku station. Koenji is like Singapore's toa payoh to me - a neighbourhood area that is pretty close to town.

I remember going to bed feeling pretty annoyed because our pocket wifi was supposed to arrive that day but we couldn't find it anywhere. We even walked to their Post Office during midnight to check but to no avail. Fun Fact: In Japan, their Post Office runs for 24 hours.

Anyway, on day 5, we woke up bright and early to explore Harajuku! I dressed up nicer that day because it was my birthday hehe. I feel that when you put in more effort to dress up and look good, you feel more confident and it just kinda makes your day a little better, no? I even wore heels that day hahahaha stupid decision btw.

The initial plan was to go and visit another shrine but the path leading to the shrine was filled with tiny rocks and i couldn't walk with my heels -_-  Besides, the weather was being a total bitch. In the end, i had to shop for a pair of new shoes because my feet got cut and i had blisters.

To be honest, i prefer flats or something that won't alleviate my height but my jumpsuit that day was too long so i had no choice but to get a flatform. Jeffrey Campbell has so many shoes that i love but they're all so high and it's just not practical to buy them.

Bryan brought me to this restaurant called Tamawarai for my birthday lunch. Their soba was really dope although the price was slightly on the high side. It was hidden at the back of some street, in between residential houses so navigating there could be a problem. Nothing Google can't solve though.

 My tohu soba

The tofu was sooooo soft and it kinda melted in my mouth.

The portion at Tamawarai was kinda small so after our lunch, we chanced upon this cute cafe, Uzna Omom, located underground along the streets of Harajuku and decided to eat there haha.

These pancakes were amazing i can't even.

OOTD

I just love backless pieces. The moment i saw this jumpsuit online, i knew i had to get it. For months, it was just chucked somewhere in my wardrobe. When i was packing for this trip and was thinking of what to wear on my birthday, i had this eureka moment and thought of this immediately! I really like the details at the back :)

No one leaves Harajuku without eating their crepes

Decided that we should head back to our apartment to wash up before dinner because i couldn't stand being sweaty the whole day. I had to get a new memory card cos my current one was full so we decided to head to Akihabara.

It was a wasted trip because their wifi memory card was sold out. While i was busy searching for my memory card, Bryan was busy searching for a good ramen place for us to have our dinner/supper.

Oh right, i wore back the top that i wore on day 4 but it was clean ok!

Waited for a while for a table and proceeded to the vending machine to order our ramen. Everything was in Japanese so we just ordered based on the picture. I thought this would be a spicy ramen? Also, they stated that it was seasonal, which kinda attracted my attention so i chose this. It turned out to be a cold ramen and honestly, it was kinda weird haha. But like i said, you can never have a bad meal in Japan so this wasn't too bad. While finishing our dinner, we figured out that it was a seasonal dish because it's only available for summer - cold ramen geddit?
