Day 4 was a mad rush because it was our last day in Nagoya. We spent the second and third day going to other areas so we haven't had time to explore Nagoya itself, which was a pity. I wish we had more time to spend here cos I really like Nagoya? I mean we didn't shop much but it was slower-paced, which was nice for a change. Not sure if i mention it before, but people in Nagoya are generally nicer than Tokyo (although overall, Japanese are really really polite).
I brought so many nice clothes to Japan but i ended up picking my worn-to-death denim shorts and a simple chiffon top because of the weather. All my boyfriend jeans, palazzo pants, slit skirt are all untouched wtf. So wasted :(
Anyway, the first stop of the day was Atsuta Jingu Shrine. For some reason, Bryan loves to visit shrines lol. I'm not interested in such stuff but well, it's all about compromising so i went ahead with it.
Every time we visit the shrine, we'd wash our hands with this and take pictures of us washing our hands lol
Look at that "line" on his shirt! His bag strap left a mark there because he was (we were) so sweaty hahaha. The heat was real, guys.
Left the shrine and went to Nagoya Castle after that!
Is it weird that i think their plants are much nicer than Singapore's?
After getting the tickets, you'll see this long stretch of food stalls. We didn't eat much in the morning so we kept walking to and fro to explore our food options haha. Prices are slightly higher and not as delicious as outside because it's a tourist attraction but in Japan, you'll never have a bad meal.
So pretty
The interior of the castle. It's a remake of the original castle after it got bombed.
Can you tell this is a dolphin?
Hahahaha i also got a story for this picture wtf so many funny stories to share. If i'm not wrong, this dolphin is a symbolic statue at the castle so people were queuing to take photos with it. It was just a short queue so B joined in. AND while he was getting into position, he tore his pants cos his pants were a bit too tight for him already LOL. Imagine my face when he told me hahahaha. I laughed my head off.
He always tears his shirts and pants i don't even know why? But thank god it was just a small hole and it wasn't obvious at all although he was really cautious about it the whole day.
Hehe so happy cos the moment we left the castle, the Redbull girls gave us a can of redbull. I'm not a huge fan of it but it was so nice drinking chilled drinks in the sweltering weather.
We were departing to go Tokyo around evening time. Since we had some time to kill, we decided to travel to eat the famous hitsumabushi - which is something like an unagi don. The one that we wanted to go to is Unagi Shirakawa Joshin Hoten, located near Joshin station.
It was a bit hard to navigate because this place is not the typical tourist restaurant and is mostly filled with locals (or so i read online). That was the main reason why we wanna go! After using google maps and asking several people, we finally found the place!!! But it was closed.... much to our disappointment. So we decided to go to another restaurant located at Sakae instead.
Just thought i should list it out. Nagoya is famous for
1. Hitsumabushi
2. Miso Katsu
3. Tebasaki
4. Tenmusu
And many more but i was only keen to try these 4. We didn't get to eat tenmusu because i couldn't find it and we had no time. There are a lot of restaurants selling hitsumabushi and all of them have a really long queue wtf. We queued for around 1.5 to 2 hours for this. Damn insane.
Again, there are 3 ways to eat this - just like the meal we had at Takayama.
While i was queuing, B left to buy tebasaki! He bought from the 2 famous tebasaki restaurants so we could compare. Verdict: Both also not nice haha. I found the meat to be too hard and dry so i'm not a fan of it.
The best part about the shinkansen in Japan, you can eat and drink inside! The seats are also crazily comfortable and you can even spin them around wtf. I never fail to fall asleep whenever we took shinkansen haha.
And this concludes the end of our Nagoya adventure. I'm finally moving on to Tokyo. But the next Japan update will be after my papers, so till then.
