Day 1 & 2 : Kaohsiung (高雄), Taiwan

I'm so bummed to be back in sunny Singapore :'( I've been missing Taiwanese street food, their clubs (lol) and above all, i miss their chilly weather the most. Was thinking of heading back to TW for grad trip just for their clubs hahaha. It's like after experiencing their clubs, Zouk is a little boring for me now.

Anyway, the flight was at 7am so i planned to stay awake, just in case i couldn't wake up. But I ended up sleeping for an hour cos i couldn't take it anymore haha. Somehow i have a hard time sleeping on flight, i wonder how people do that.

Day 1

Partner-in-crime for the 11 days hehe

We were waiting for our friends to take our luggage while we got the bus tickets. First stop of the trip, Kaohsiung!

Omg this sausage fried rice from 7-11 is so damn good?!

Hotel Lobby

We stayed at Backpackers Inn, Kaohsiung. Initially, when i first heard the name, i thought we were staying in a hostel but thank god daph booked the suite for us.

Steamboat for dinner. Wished i could tell y'all the name of the restaurant but Daph brought us here so i really have no idea. /Edit: Daph just told me the steamboat restaurant is call 高雄鼎王麻辣火锅

The group (of 6) separated after dinner because 4 of them wanted to watch a movie so ying and i decided to wander around on our own. We rented the wifi router from Changi Airport so i just googled my way throughout the whole trip hehe.

My travel habit #1: Idk about you but i love to explore the streets when traveling. Some people will worry that they might lose their way but i'm just like yolo let's do it and get lost together. Lol. Plus we had an internet connection so i wasn't worried at all lah.

Liuhe night market (六合夜市) is just 2 min away from our hotel! We've gone to several night markets in KS but i think 六合 has the best food. The fried mozzarella cheese stick was so fucking good you have to try it. It was just outside McDonald's, at the entrance of 六合夜市.

We were so full after steamboat but no one can resist their street food. The whole night i was like a broken record on replay

"Omg what is this"
"Omg i want!"
"Smells so good"
"Eh so cheap, lets get it!"
"Wow looks damn delicious!"

Lol and because of me, Ying had to eat a lot of food even though she was already stuffed hahaha. Sorry not sorry. So this is My travel habit #2: I spend a lot of money on food because i want to try everything. And it's not like i get to eat their food anytime i want when i'm back in Singapore.

Wanted to shop but sadly, we didn't find anything we want. Actually, some shops sell really nice stuff but they are also expensive, like $100+ for a top? That night, we both went back with a beanie each hahaha. I only bought it because i don't like the feeling of not getting anything when my intention was to shop. It was gonna be colder in Taichung and Taipei anyway so i thought it would be handy.

Day 2

My travel habit #3: Wake up early. I like to maximize my day when i'm in a foreign land so i'm always the first to wake up.

Traditional taiwanese breakfast. And yes, we over-ordered lol

We joined the rest shortly after our breakfast and took a cab to E-Da Outlet Mall. They have a lot of branded goods there so if you're planning to splurge then it's a good place to go. I only got a pair of Nike Air there. Almost bought a Porter backpack but i hesitated because i hardly carry a backpack so i decided to pass.

Daph planned the itinerary for KS and allocated the whole day for E-Da but there wasn't much to do anymore so we decided to separate again. Ying and i went to several shopping malls before going to another night market to have our dinner.

I told her i tried and hated 臭豆腐 (fermented tofu) but she wanted to try so we ordered a small plate but the portion was so big omg. She ate a piece and wanted to throw the rest away hahaha but the people there seemed to love this dish so we didn't want to be rude. I told the uncle to pack it for us to bring home and threw it away once we were out of sight lol.

After eating, we went back to the hotel to wash up because we wanted to go Club Muse. It was a Thursday so we only had to pay NT200. It was around $9 after conversion and they have free flow drinks all night wtf. This is why i said after clubbing in TW, the clubs in SG pale in comparison haha.

We only reached our hotel at around 5am and woke up at 7.45am the next day cos we were headed for Kenting. The next morning, Ying was still stumbling around the room to get ready cos she was still drunk hahahaha.

Your travel to Kaohsiung looks fun. Do you think it's also safe for solo travelers?

Hello. Yes, it’s pretty safe imo. But if you’re heading to the clubs there just be mindful that the guys can be a bit aggressive
