On Day 3, we decided to try the Tim Ho Wan in HK because we heard there was no queue. That was obviously a lie. Look at the crowd please. I blame it on their queuing system because it was kind of confusing but after waiting for 30mins, we finally got a table.
THW is located at IFC Mall, Central MTR.
Glutinous rice still lose to the one i had at Lantau Island.
Actually, i think Singapore's THW is better. The portions serve in Singapore are also slightly bigger than HK's.
After satisfying our tummies, we took a cab to go to Horizon Plaza! It's an outlet mall.
Cab fare from Central is about HKD80-90.
Horizon Plaza has about 28 levels :O You get to see what brands are located on which level at the lobby before you start shopping. But you better remember all the levels you want to go because if you forget, you have to go down the lobby to check again. Lol. That was what we did.
Went to level 5 and visited a pet shop! Look what i found?
MUFFIN
Wah cannot tank. Too damn cute. I was super happy there because i love dogs. They have a dog playground outside but we didn't go in. Muffin is exactly the type of dog i'd like. FLUFFY and big. I like big dogs. I also like fluffy dogs. And she is both! :D
And she smells damn good because she just had spa. Haha damn good life because even i don't go for spa. On top of that, she doesn't bark :)
Didn't leave the mall empty handed. I bagged home a Marc By Marc Jacobs ipad cover.
It is obviously too big for my ipad mini but i just had to. I actually eyed on the other one but after much thoughts, i decided to buy this instead. On days i'm not bringing a lot of things, i can use it as a "clutch". And on the right is the Pandora Charm i bought on day 2 :)
Level 28 of Horizon Plaza has this Treetop cafe tucked in a quiet corner of the furniture shop. The whole level sells furniture and i thought it'd be boring but boy, was i wrong. Everything is so nice there?! I told Daniel and June next time i want to ship (some of ) the furniture over for my future house.
Paradise
We left the mall and again cabbed to Admiralty and took the MTR to Jordan because i MUST eat at Australia's Dairy Company.
Uploaded to Instagram and captioned with " No matter what, i'll always come back to you."
Love love love the steamed milk and love love love the scrambled egg. Daniel and June couldn't stop raving about the egg haha.
As usual, we walked along the streets after that and all i have with me are photos of food. Hehe. It's hard not to gain weight in HK i swear. Especially in that chilly weather, you just want to keep eating.
My another must have in HK. Even the cold weather didn't stop us from this.
Actually i found them in Johor too! Y U NO come Singapore?
You see this? This is happiness.
Almost everywhere you go, you can find such stall. Sometimes even side by side.
We walked from Jordan to Mongkok since it was near the place we stayed and as usual, HK is still very happening at 10pm. I mean, in Singapore, the shops and malls close as early as 9pm. But over here, even at 12am, there are still shops open. That's one thing i love about this country.
Had supper at McDonald's.
I tried this tonkatsu pork wrap since it's not available in Singapore and it was meh. Haha the fries also not nice -_-
I guess we walked for a little more before resided back to our humble place to sleep. Moving on to Day 4!
Breakie at another random cafe we chanced upon.
Another day of roaming the streets and got myself fried squid to share. The duo said that it was not bad but i didn't like it at all. Too hard and i kinda choked on a piece after that and kept coughing. Meh.
We randomly found a stretch of stalls selling fruits, vegetables and seafood etc. Basically it's like a market. I've decided that it has been so damn long since i ate a fruit so we bought a pomelo to share..... and it sucked. The Pomelo is dry as fuck, not juicy at all. Daniel and i gave June the whole thing cos we prefer the juicy type haha. If you're wondering, yes we walked around eating it like it's some finger food. Lol.
We went back to Australia's Dairy Company but it was closed on Thursday :'( Yes we love it so much.
The 2 of them also wanted to try Four Season Claypot Rice along the night market at Yau Ma Tei so we had that for dinner. I tried it before and felt that it was over hyped. My second time there and I'm still sticking to what i feel. I prefer Singapore's version of Claypot Rice.
However, if you do visit this place, please do yourself a favor and order this. They call it Oyster Cake if i'm not wrong.
After we were done with our dinner here, i hopped to the next stall and queued for the fishball. I'm not a fan of fish ball and they are actually famous for the beef parts BUT i don't eat all the organs so i only can eat the fish balls. Lol.
And i think this is one of the nicest fish balls i've tried? I would buy it again if i'm there.
And of course the eating didn't stop here. Told ya i ate like a pig there :'(
I only bought this because it was too cold.
Went to the Pet Street etc and decided to have supper at Dimdimsum Dim Sum Cafe, which is just a mere 30 seconds away from the place we stayed. We regret not trying this earlier because they served good dim sums! Better than THW in our opinions.
Pineapple polo bun
Glorious Liu Sha Bao!
And this concludes my HK trip'2014. Our flight back to Singapore was at 6am on the 5th day so we actually slept at the airport on day 4. It was so uncomfortableeeeee :'( I mean i couldn't sleep well and i was so tired. My dad fetched me from the airport and brought me to eat my favourite beef noodles for breakfast before sending me home.
I took out all the dirty clothes and left the rest of it in my luggage and went straight to bed. I actually had my company's Lo Hei Dinner at 7pm BUT i only woke up when June called me. I set alarms, like 3 alarms but i guess i was too tired because i don't remember snoozing it haha. It was a blessing in disguise though because i had my own family reunion dinner on that day.
Hong Kong is the third country i've been within a span of 3 months! First was Gold Coast, Bangkok and now Hong Kong. I'm sad to say i have to stop travelling for a while now but i'm looking forward to more places to go! Hopefully the next time i'm out of the country, i'll go to one that i've not been to before.
xx,
Jess
