Day 3 - Chatuchak -> Union Mall -> Thai Message
OOTD for the both of us
Everything from Bangkok haha
If you were wondering why was our hair up, we were preparing for Chatuchak (JJ Market)! I told Esther the night before to wear light and airy material like chiffon and tie our hair etc haha. To prepare for the battle.
Hotel Breakfast.
Paid 150baht for a tuktuk ride to JJ market . I don't usually take tuktuk because i want to go by meter but we couldn't get any cab to turn on their meter that day, probably because they knew we were heading to JJ market.
Tuktuk Driver: Tonight no sexy?
Us: Huh?
Me to E: Maybe he asking whether tonight got wear sexy to club?
Us: No no. Tonight we no sexy.
Driver: No.... Tonight no sexy? Thailand dengue!
Me: Thailand dengue????
Driver: Ya! Thailand dengue!
Me: OHHHH. Thailand dangerous is it?
Driver: Yes yes! Dengue. You want sexy, tomorrow morning sexy. Night, no sexy.
Apparently, spaghetti tops were considered too "sexy". So he was telling to tell us not to wear spaghetti top and shorts at night because Thailand is a dangerous place.
LOL. I will never forget this conversation with him. Btw, our conversation was exchanged with a thai accent haha. I personally think that the touch of thai accent helps to bridge the language barrier.
Decided to eat at this random stall and it sucked so bad haha. The tom yum noodles tasted nothing like tom yum and i think they charged 200 baht for it. That's $8!
I always visit JJ market and Union Mall on the same day because they are near to each other. I think E and i spent about 6 hours at JJ market because she kept saying we hadn't finished combing the whole area. I almost died haha. 6 hours in that heat was no joke.
I remember i didn't quite like to go Union Mall last time but surprisingly this time, i made quite a few purchases. No photos cos we were shopping but anyway i had the nicest deep fried kangkong there!
THIS IS THE BOMBZ. Until now, i kept telling B i miss the kangkong because it was so delicious. The restaurant name is in thai but we found out from the waitress that it's pronounced as Tum Laeh or something like that haha.
It's located at Level 1 of Union Mall and there should probably be a queue. E & I queued for about 20 minutes if i'm not wrong.
Went back to the hotel to put our shopping bags and headed to the massage parlour right beside our hotel for a full body massage, a much needed one. My legs and shoulders were so sore i swear. Paid 250 baht for it, which is $10 SGD.
Changed into their pj before i fell into deep slumber.
E had a foot massage instead because she insisted that she wasn't comfortable with stranger touching her body hahaha. What nonsense? The best part was, i could hear her laughter from second floor -_- She told me it was so ticklish after that. Damn loserish this girl.
35 baht yakult that is so huge.
Day 4
Platinum Mall new(er) wing -> Siam Paragon -> MBK -> Dalot Rot Fai night market
Spent 1.5hours at Platinum new wing and scored myself 2 pairs of shoes and some clothes for my sister. We decided to head to Siam Paragon for lunch because i wanted to try Bankara Ramen and E was sick of thai food haha.
This ramen was heavenly. We also queued for this btw haha. I love the broth because it was so flavourful and so rich. The char siew was also very tender and soft and the texture of the noodles was springy and not over nor was it undercooked.
We headed to MBK thereafter cos E wanted to get handphone case and a screen protector but she left empty handed somehow. As for me, i was just accompanying her without any intention to get anything.
Milk tea float! This was so good omg. We need this in Singapore
Cabbed to Dalat Rot Fai night market. It's a bit far and the name is difficult for us to pronounce so if you want to go, get ready the address and show the cab driver instead. We did just that and it helped a lot.
This is my first time there and if you were wondering if it was worth the hassle to get there, i'd say YES. That place is really huge and other than being a nice place to shop, it's a nice place to chill too.
Did gelish manicure for 500 baht with this design and we stayed till 1am there (that's 2am in Sg). We were so afraid that we couldn't get back to our hotel because 1. It was late 2. We are not familiar with the roads in bkk 3. Thailand is dengue (pun intended)
We worried for nothing obviously because the moment we stepped out to the main road, there were a lot of cabs.
MY loot from day 1 to day 4.
They pretty much take up the whole bed haha.
Actually majority of the shops sell similar items so technically i had nothing much to buy from the 4th day onwards because i kept seeing the same thing. I'm not sure why i ended up changing money twice actually.
Day 5
Pratunam Market -> Siam Centre
We actually planned to wake up for the morning market at 6am but we obviously overslept haha. Checked out in the morning and headed for one last round of shopping before flying home at night.
Changed money again lor. Meh.
Back at sabx wanton mee for their pork leg rice. I've been wanting to try it for damn long but i always order their wanton mee instead. Am glad i tried their pork leg rice because i actually prefer it to their wanton mee.
Yummy
We continued shopping for awhile before going to Mr Jones Orphanage to chill.
Don't bother with their lemon meringue cake it was so dry and slightly tasteless. Their passion strawberry is not bad though. They are a 100 baht each if i'm not wrong.
Loving their interior.
Went upstairs to Petite Audrey cafe after that!
We agreed unanimously that the latter was better because Jone's cakes were so so only.
Anyway it was time for us to leave so we headed back to the hotel with a heavy heart. Time flies especially when you're enjoying yourself. It felt like we only spent 3 days there actually. I'm missing the cheap food, thai milk tea and the cheap cab fare. I also miss walking around their night markets until 1am because you can't get that in Singapore except Mustafa.
Alright there. I apologised for the lacklustre post because i'm really tired right now. Gonna crash soon. Have a good day ahead everyone :)
